Meet Dr. Mark T. Dean & Our Team
Dr. Dean is an Optometric Physician, who graduated from Illinois College of Optometry 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees. Dr. Dean practiced with his father in Sparta Michigan, where he grew up, in a small town North of Grand Rapids. He relocated to Myrtle Beach in 1981 where he currently owns and directs a specialty practice devoted to vision therapy and vision rehabilitation.
He is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), in 2010 he completed the COVD fellowship process. Members of COVD are optometrists who specialize in working with children and adults experiencing difficulties in the areas of binocular vision, focusing, eye teaming, strabismus and amblyopia and visual processing skill.
He coordinates with parents and educators in writing IEP programs and helping to write accommodations and 504 modifications. He also coordinates sensory integration programs with Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Behavior Medical Specialties.
He is a member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitative Association (NORA). Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation is an individualize treatment regimen for patients with visual deficits as a direct result of physical disabilities, traumatic brain injury and other neurological insults. He provides treatment for people with visual field loss, double vision, visual balance disorders, visual midline shift syndrome, post trauma vision syndrome, light sensitivity and reading disorders.
Dr. Dean is also a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA); South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association (SCOPA); and the Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEPF).
Alexandria Lauren Tyler is a local native to Myrtle Beach, SC. At age 17, she joined the South Carolina Army National Guard as a 68W, Combat Medic. The Army advanced her career path by paying for her education. She attended Francis Marion University & Coastal Carolina University where she majored in Economics and Business Statistics. For the past 10yrs. She’s worked in the Financial & Accounting fields of Business. In October of 2020 she brought her daughter to Grand Strand Vision Services for her first eye appointment where she also came as a child for Vision Therapy. She fell in love with the practice & joined our team working as our Vision Therapy Administrator. Alexandria has a heart for serving others, and when not at work finds herself serving her children, her church and her community. She loves singing, playing piano, DIY art projects & exploring new places.
Elizabeth who goes by Libby, joined our team in June 2020. With over 30 hears in professional office management positions and a strong background in high volume, high pressure environments, Libby manages administrative duties and patient relations for Grand Strand Vision Services.
As the Patient Care Coordinator, Libby is the friendly voice greeting you when you call. She ensures the smooth operation of the front office with her robust knowledge of scheduling, medical records, insurance authorizations, patient inquiries and the need for timely access to the services being provided.

Heather found her passion in helping children and adults to live and enjoy their lives to the fullest at a young age. Originally from Charlotte, NC. Heather relocated to Conway, SC with her husband and son while pursuing her degree in Psychology at Coastal Carolina University. During her time there, Heather also completed all required coursework and passed the Board of Behavior Analysis, RBT exam, to obtain her RBT certification. Heather has worked as a Behavioral Therapist in the years prior to accepting a position as a Vision Therapist at Grand Strand Vision Service in June 2020. Heather enjoys reading a good book, taking a long walk on the beach and spending time with her family.
Julia is a South Carolina native, born and raised in Conway. She graduated from Coastal Carolina University in the spring of 2020 with a bachelors degree in Public Health. In June 2020 she accepted a position as a Vision Therapist at Grand Strand Vision Services and will use her background experience in working with early learners to provide therapy services. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach with her family, spending time with friends and playing tennis.
